About the project

FLAG-SHIP is a celebration of diversity, inclusivity and joy. The pavilion represents the various identities present in this year’s carnival. The 3m tall structure creates a frame in the landscape making both a space to inhabit as well as exhibiting the 2019 Hello Wood community by creating a linear timber gallery clad in flags made by the participants during one of the many carnival rituals as a lead up to the procession.

Project leaders

We are a student-led team excited to collaborate with fellow students from around the world.

Sabrah Islam holds a bachelor of Architecture from the University of Westminster. Sung Yeop Lim received his bachelor of Architecture the University of Bath and is currently completing his masters in Architecture at the Royal College of Art. Sonya Falkovskaia studied Architecture at Bath alongside Sung and will continue her architectural studies at the Harvard Graduate School of Design.

Collectively we have been to Hellowood 5 times which has given us the practical knowledge to best realise a successful pavilion.

We look forward to working with other students to realise this proposal by collectively developing the design both in methods of construction and details to build something which could only be realised through teamwork embodying the Hellowood spirit!
