CARNIVAL UNBOXING DAY
About the project
Architecture and the world in general awaits a lot of challenges in the near future. For me, all of them can relate to one question. How can we live together?
Everyone is part of a larger context. This context defines partially who we are, whether is religion, birthplace, culture. It colors our perspective. To live together we can copy each other and build walls, to avoid conflict. To make it more colorful, we can respect each other and throw a party or a carnival.
I would like to make an abstraction of the different contexts by presenting them as basic shapes. So each shape stands for a group of people who live in the same context, whether it's religion, eating habits, architectural building methods...
The basic shapes can be a circle, triangle and rectangular. Each shape fits in its own box, because they are 1-shape boxes.
These boxes can go on a parade, each presenting their own perfect shape. They can mix, but they won't fit in a strange box as long as they stay separated.
When the boxes unite and become one, the shapes can climb to the roof which is a fit for all. And there you have it: CARNIVAL!
Project Leaders - Kris Drieghe
I am a belgian architect and run a small architecture firm with my wife. Besides the regular architectural work, I like to work on hands on projects. In a local social project I volunteer in a lot of activities to support the community. I regularly check the calendar for international construction work to have some more fun.
